Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I get involved with Humboldt Hockey?  I want to Play!

The best way to get started is to come out to a game.  You will need to review our Code of Conduct and sign a Release of Liability form to play in your first game.  Regular players will also eventually be required to join USA Rollersports (USARS) so they can get additional training and benefits.

  • What kind of equipment to I need to play?

This if fully covered in the Release of Liability – we recommend players have full compliment of gear. With the exception of skates, we have a lot of extra gear people can borrow.  Check the Schedule and just come to a game with your skates we can probably get you started!

Skaters should have: Hockey Skates that are protective and designed for roller hockey, Helmet with full face shield. Protective pads to include; hockey girdle with cup, shin/knee pads, elbow pads, hockey gloves, and chest/shoulder/back protection. Hockey stick.

Goalies should have:  Hockey Skates that are protective and designed for roller hockey. Goalie helmet and face mask. Chest and arm protector, leg pads, thigh and knee pads, goalie pants, cup, neck guard and back protector. Gloves: Hockey catcher glove and blocker. Goalie Stick.

Is it full contact?

  • Humboldt Roller Hockey is NOT full contact and we don’t go around checking each-other.  Sometimes collisions inadvertently occur, which is why players all need safety gear.  We all play as friends and most of us have to go to work the next day, so we really don’t want people getting injured!
